Working for the Pre-school Learning Alliance

The Pre-school Learning Alliance, a registered educational charity, is the largest voluntary sector provider of quality affordable childcare in England.

We offer professional support to over 15,000 early years settings and impact positively on the care and education of around 800,000 young children and their families every year.

The Alliance provides training courses leading to recognised qualifications at levels 2 and 3 in childcare. We offer a wide variety of other courses for parent and pre-school staff. We also provide Quality Improvement systems, local visits by skilled advisers, a range of helpful publications, membership and advice helplines, support with marketing and PR, fundraising, finance and Human Resources issues.

There are nearly 100 employing sub-committees across the country, many running early years settings. Job opportunities are advertised on the website, nursery related magazines and journals, in local press and Alliance offices. The Alliance also has opportunities for both unqualified and qualified childcare practitioners. Please see the brochure Career opportunities with the Pre-school Learning Alliance for further information.

Criminal Disclosures Checks

Please note that due to the nature of many of our posts (for example, those working within pre-schools), we may seek details about a successful applicants' criminal record from the Criminal Records Bureau before any appointment is confirmed. This will include details of cautions, reprimands or final warnings, as well as convictions.

Having a conviction will not necessarily bar candidates from employment. This will depend on the circumstances and background to the offence(s) disclosed.

The Pre-school Learning Alliance meets the requirements in respect of exempted questions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

Equality and Diversity

The Pre-school Learning Alliance aims to employ the best possible staff and intends to offer equality of opportunity by ensuring that no person is disadvantaged or discriminated against in seeking employment, or for any other reason during their employment with the Pre-school Learning Alliance.

Applicants will be considered on the basis of their suitability for the post, regardless of marital status, age, gender, race, culture, religious belief, ethnic origin or sexual orientation or be placed at a disadvantage by imposing conditions or requirements, which are not justifiable.

We welcome applications from all sections of the community and value the individual differences that people can bring to our organisation. The Pre-school Learning Alliance expects all successful candidates to support our Promoting Equality, Valuing Diversity Policy.

If you have any special needs or requirements to assist you in making an application and/or attending an interview if short listed, please contact the Human Resources Department by e-mail or on 020 7697 2500.
