How will my child develop and learn?

Our curriculum takes into account every child’s abilities, interests and needs.

Alliance settings and other childcare providers who are registered with Ofsted, follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). This sets the standards for learning, development and care of young children – from birth to five. All parents are provided with information about the EYFS explaining how it benefits each child’s learning and development.

Through the EYFS we focus on developing the following areas of learning and development with children:

  • personal, social and emotional development
  • physical development
  • communication and language
  • literacy
  • mathematics
  • understanding of the world
  • expressive arts and design

We believe that children learn best through play. Evidence also supports this view and shows it promotes a child’s long-term development. Children also learn well in social groups such as family, friends, in their childcare and local community.
