East division

The East division support our subcommittees through contracts with local authorities and other partners or grant funding to:

  • network with their member groups
  • provide support services for parents and children

Where we are

Our office is in a little village called Swavesey, just North of Cambridge city.

We also have the Cambs and Peterborough subcommittee office in the upstairs part of our building.

Activities

In East Division we give support through our subcommittee teams as follows:

  • Provide advice and guidance directly or through signposting to member support (example: our business support project in Cambridgeshire and Suffolk)
  • Provide e newsletters for members on local early years news, policy and advice in the area
  • Host volunteer East division council meetings where volunteers can come together once a term to discuss government strategy and issues affecting early years
  • Offer volunteers a chance to attend national forum meetings with the board of trustees and Alliance’s chief executive officer to ensure local information and experience is fed-back to policy makers
  • Host Alliance community network meetings for local member groups to share practice, listen to speakers, take part in workshops and discussions about early years
  • Advertised training opportunities in newsletters and your subcommittee office
  • Provide constitution and charity advice directly or through signposting
  • Helps volunteer committees understand how to work to a constitution and when and who to contact when they have difficulties
  • Provide apprenticeship information and training to support member groups looking to provide apprenticeship opportunities in their setting
  • Offer volunteering projects such as Be the Change a Lincs which provides volunteering opportunities for parents to gain skills to return to work
  • Offer payroll services provided by some of our subcommittee offices as a finance support service for member groups
  • Offer special 2yr old funding support for pre-schools and parents in the division
  • Offer consultancy services free through local authority contracts or reasonably priced packages for members
  • Provide business support, in-service training for staff, and specialist training on supporting 2yr olds
