About us 

As the Pre-school Learning Alliance Humber and York service hub, we support approximately 200 members across five local authority areas including Hull, York, East Riding of Yorkshire, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire. Members include; pre-schools, day nurseries, toddler groups, nursery schools, children’s centres and individuals.  

We have been providing high quality support and advice to providers of early years education and childcare in the Humber and York for more than 25 years. The type of support we offer ranges from consultancy advice on committee management to payslip services. We also provide a crèche service to children’s centres, voluntary organisations and training providers.

Latest news 

The Humber and York service hub has been awarded a grant from Youth Music for a two year project starting in spring 2018. Growing through Music in the Coastal North will fund the Pre-school Learning Alliance to provide musical opportunities in early years settings to encourage language and communication development in young children. The project runs down the north east coast from Durham down to Lincolnshire.

Crèche Service

The Humber and York service hub has been providing a mobile crèche service for over 20 years. Regular clients include children’s centres, training providers, and voluntary organisations.

Our experienced crèche staff are dedicated to providing safe and fun sessions for the children in our care and hold recognised childcare qualifications, paediatric first aid and DBS clearance. All of our crèche’s are insured, staffed as per Ofsted ratios, follow the EYFS framework and all venues and activities are risk assessed prior to the start of each session.

We can provide one off or multiple bookings in the Hull, East Riding and North East Lincolnshire areas.

Payslip Service

Let us help your organisation fulfil its legal requirements when calculating employees pay and deductions and reporting to HMRC.  The Humber and York service hub has been supporting members with a payslip service since 1999 and has many satisfied customers;

Our payslip service includes:-

• Calculating Tax and NI deductions

• Statutory payments (including sick, maternity, paternity or adoption pay)

• Enrolling eligible staff to your chosen qualifying pension scheme

• Monthly submission to HMRC

• Producing pay slips and payroll summaries

• Processing new starters and P45’s for leavers

• All year-end reports including P60’s

• On-line filing of year-end return to HMRC

We are on the A63 corridor, just two miles from Hull city centre and railway station.

Action towards inclusion (Building Better Opportunities)

Action towards inclusion (Building Better Opportunities)
 
The Humber and York service hub is pleased to be a delivery partner for the Action Towards Inclusion project.  This  £7m programme is a three year project funded by the Big Lottery and the European Social Fund for the York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Local Enterprise Partnership area.  The programme offers flexible support to help adults overcome physical, psychological, financial and skills-related barriers and progress towards employment, training, education and job-search, whilst at the same time helping to combat a range of social issues including poverty and social exclusion.

Youth Music

Growing through Music in the Coastal North is a two year project funded by Youth Music.  The aim of the project is embedding musical opportunities in early years settings to encourage language and communication development in young children. The project runs along the north east coast from Durham down to Lincolnshire.
 

This is an interactive workshop looking at how music aids in language/communication development and improving mental wellbeing and social skills.

This workshop will be led by Shelly Richardson who is an experienced childcare professional with over 30 years experience in education and has 10 years experience working for the Pre-School Learning Alliance. Shelly has completed training with Sage Gateshead Early Years music team and with Tiny Talk. She has successfully delivered over 15 projects in the northeast. 

During this interactive workshop you will have the opportunity to-

  • Learn new methods and activities to use in your setting
  • Build your confidence in delivery of music sessions
  • Understand the principles behind music as a teaching method
  • Learn methods of using music to engage children with additional needs more fully into the setting

Meet the Team

Julie Graham  - Service Hub Manager 

Julie has extensive knowledge and experience of working in early years and children services.  Julie has held a number of roles at the Pre-school Learning Alliance over the last 10 years most recently Business Development Manager before becoming the Humber and York Service Hub Manager in July 2017.  Julie works full time.

Julie Rodrigues – Crèche Co-ordinator 

Julie is an experienced early years professional and has been working for the Pre-school Learning Alliance as its Crèche Co-ordinator for over 10 years. Julie works Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and every other Wednesday.

Michelle Fellows –      Finance and Payroll Officer 

Michelle joined the Pre-school Learning Alliance in 2012 initially as Payroll Administrator and was promoted to Finance and Payroll Officer in September 2014.  Michelle usually works Monday – Thursday and every other Friday.

Fiona Diaper – Business Development Officer 

Fiona joined the service hub in 2016, she has over 15 years’ experience of working in voluntary and charity sector in development and managerial roles.  Fiona is based at the Hull office on Wednesdays and Thursdays 8am-2pm.

Rachel Stokes – Administrative Assistant 

Rachel has recently joined the service hub in June 2017. She works part time on a Tuesday and Wednesday 8.30-4.00 and Thursday 8.30-12.00
