Volunteer Awards
The Pre-school Learning Alliance Volunteer Awards recognise the vital role played by volunteers in our work. Volunteers support our work in many ways. Some volunteers may help on an occasional basis with fundraising activities or nursery outings while others may become a treasurer or secretary for their child’s pre-school. No matter how great or small the contribution, these Awards recognise the important contribution made by volunteers in everything we do.
Once again, winners of the Volunteer Awards will be announced at the Alliance’s Annual Conference, Exhibition and AGM in London on Friday, 18 June 2010.

Who can I nominate?
Alliance volunteers and staff are encouraged to make nominations. All volunteers are eligible and can undertake any kind of role or make any level of contribution to the work of the charity. This is your opportunity to nominate a volunteer whose enthusiasm, expertise and commitment has directly benefited the lives of families and the wider community in your area. It also gives you an opportunity to highlight any interesting projects that local volunteers have supported you with over the past year.
Award categories
You may know, or have direct experience of working with, a busy mum, dad, grandparent or young person who gives up a few hours every week to help you manage your pre-school accounts or offers their time to support you to organise a baby and toddler group. If you would like to nominate, please choose a category below to best reflect your nominee (s) contribution:
- Outstanding Pre-school Committee Volunteer
- Outstanding Volunteer at a Baby and Toddler Group
- Outstanding Volunteer at a Pre-school or Nursery
- Lifetime Achievement Award
Next steps
Simply complete an online nomination form by 2 April 2010. An Awards panel will consider all nominations and shortlist against the criteria specified in the guidance notes below. Two nominations from each category will be shortlisted to go forward to the final stage.
Shortlisted nominees will be invited to meet with judges informally in London on 6 May 2010. Travel and expenses will be paid by the Alliance. Please ask your nominee to keep this date free. The judges will then choose winners for each category. Positive examples to support your nomination are always very helpful.
