The Alliance's vocational training is specially designed to suit staff and volunteers in community based settings - pre-schools, playgroups, parent and toddler groups and nurseries as well as Sure Start Projects and Neighbourhood Nurseries - everyone who is committed to providing high quality, parent-involving care and education for children.

The course Getting Started in a Pre-school Setting has been designed as a practical introduction to working in a pre-school. It is accredited by CACHE and encourages students to plan their career development within the early years field.

Students can then progress to study for recognised awards. The Alliance has developed - again with CACHE - the following progression route of qualifications which are recognised by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA):

Introduction to Pre-school Practice, the first unit of the level 2 qualification

Following a level 3 qualification, pre-school staff may then choose to study at a university for an Early Years Senior Practitioner Foundation Degree.
