Local Authorities
Helping you to meet your targets
We understand that settings and local authorities are all striving to provide the very best services for children and families. Training is one of the ways in which we can help settings to hone their services and provide the best. We are keen to provide support to employers and to local authorities to analyse training needs and develop innovative solutions that meet employers’ needs, learners’ needs and the strategic needs of local authorities.

Building on qualifications – professional development
Getting qualified is only the start. As professionals childcare workers must keep all their skills and knowledge up-to-date. The Alliance can provide training that can take setting staff further steps along their learning pathway. There are suites of courses and sessions providing training in subjects of universal interest, for example inclusion and equality. There are courses for new staff and for staff taking on new roles. We have courses looking at management issues. We can provide training on a wide range of specific subjects and for specific audiences. Contact your Area Manager to discuss.
Qualifications changes – Level 3 Diploma for the children and young people’s workforce (Early Years)
Qualifications for the children and young people’s are in the process of change. However all the qualifications currently acceptable for regulatory purposes will continue to be acceptable after the new qualifications are introduced.
The Alliance will be providing the new qualifications when they become available.
Checking the standing of qualifications
When recruiting for new staff or checking the qualifications of existing staff settings can find it useful to have an independent source of information about the standing of the wide range of qualifications that have been taken in the past. The Children’s Workforce Development Council’s Qualifications list for those delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage http://www.cwdcouncil.org.uk/qualifications-list is the authoritative source for this.
