Helping you provide the best

For your setting to be able to provide the best care and education for children and families you need a knowledgeable and committed workforce. Qualifications bring increased confidence and improved staff motivation. When staff are qualified they feel more ‘part of the team’ and staff retention improves.

Pre‑school Learning Alliance has a long and strong track record of providing high quality training for qualification.  Good qualifications are the solution that you need to keep your setting in line with regulatory requirements. Settings with a high proportion of qualified staff are more likely to be able to provide the highest quality childcare.

Our highly experienced and qualified teaching and assessment staff all have experience in childcare settings. They understand your objectives as a childcare provider. They are committed to supporting your staff to succeed and excel.

From August 2010 the children and young people’s workforce qualifications reform bring changes to our programme. For more information on the changes click here

We can provide the following qualifications programmes:

Cache Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce (Early Learning and Childcare)

Cache Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People’s Workforce

Cache Level 3 Diploma in Pre‑school Practice (enrolments until 31st December 2010)

Cache Level 2 Certificate in Pre‑school Practice (enrolments until 31st December 2010)

Responding to requests from employers we will provide new qualifications over a period of one year. Learners will need to attend classroom based teaching and learning sessions, carry out homework tasks, and practise their skill in the setting where for new qualifications, aspects of their assessment will take place.

We can also provide an  introductory programme that can help new staff return to study and prepare them for the qualifications programmes. It can also help volunteers get more out of their involvement in your setting.

Cache Level 1 Award in an Introduction to an Early Years Setting

Funding

Local authority funding for training varies from area to area. Contact your local education authority for the current position. The Alliance has access to public funding that subsidizes the costs of training. Young people aged under 18 and people on income related benefits, and those for whom their study will lead to their first qualification at level 2 or above receive free training.
