Pre-school Learning Alliance comments on childcare research
Commenting on the media reports surrounding the findings from the "Children, Families and Childcare" research: Steve Alexander, Chief Executive said:
"We all recognise that, for the very youngest children, parents are the first and primary carers and educators. That is why Alliance member settings place parents at the centre of the childcare service they offer, involving them in everything from play sessions to the management of the setting. For parents who want and need to work, pre-schools, childminders and nurseries play an important role. As Dr Leach's research suggests, the challenge is to make all childcare high quality by investing in training and development of staff and placing parents at the heart of childcare services".
