Three reasons to celebrate as local nursery holds funday

WHEN: Saturday 20th August 2005 10am - 2pm

WHERE: Willowtree Neighbourhood Nursery, Moorland Infant and Nursery School, Westwick Drive, Lincoln

WHAT: Re-launch of neighbourhood nursery

Local MP Gillian Merron, will be among many guests who will be celebrating with Moorland Neighbourhood Nursery as they re-launch under a new name and reach their 1st Birthday on Saturday 20th August from 10am.

The neighbourhood nursery, launched as Moorland last year, will be renamed Willowtree Neighbourhood Nursery. Celebrations will take place throughout the day with White Post Farm's petting zoo for the children, a stilt walking clown, local policeman and firemen, majorettes display and lots more. This is a triple celebration for the nursery, as they have also recently received a glowing Ofsted report.

The report said:

"The quality of teaching and learning is good. Children have a positive attitude to learning...Partnership with parents is outstanding, parents are encouraged to be involved in children's learning. The quality of leadership and management of the nursery education is good. Staff work well together as a team under the clear leadership of the manager."

Willowtree nursery meets the needs of local parents in providing flexible, affordable, high quality daycare that enables them to work or train according to need. Positioned next to the local school and part of the Moorland Children's Centre, the nursery offers young children the chance to learn through play in a stimulating and nurturing environment. It also provides a facility for parents to get to know other people and to drop in for advice and social opportunities.

The nursery offers full daycare five days a week and provides a home from home for children between six weeks old and school age.

Nicola Myers, Centre Manager commented:

"Our first year, a new name but still the same quality education and care we have always provided. We hope parents and children will enjoy our celebrations, there will be refreshments and fun for all. We are all very proud of our nursery and have worked hard to achieve the good quality provision we are known for. We are pleased that Ofsted has recognised this in its report."

Lynda Sandham, Regional Executive Officer at Eastern Region Pre-school Learning Alliance commented:

"It's great to see Willowtree Neighbourhood Nursery still providing fantastic care. So much work has been done, in partnership with the local Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership and Moorland Primary and Infants School and Sure Start to make this facility a reality. Willowtree will provide children with a safe and stimulating environment, where parents and carers can be sure that their child will be well looked after and cared for. It is a real asset for Lincoln's community."
