MP, Mayor and Barnsley FC defender to open new neighbourhood nursery

Michael Clapham MP, The Worshipful the Mayor of Barnsley Cllr Joe Hayward and Antony Kay, Barnsley FC Defender, will officially open the Pre-school Learning Alliance's Neighbourhood Nursery in Elsecar, Barnsley on Friday 4th June 2005 at 11am. The event will run from 10am until 1.30pm and is open to parents and children to celebrate the nursery's opening and gain more information about services on offer.
Elsecar Neighbourhood Nursery, is one of two Pre-school Learning Alliance nurseries in Barnsley. Elsecar Nursery is situated in the grounds of Holy Trinity C of E Primary School, in an area of economic and social need.
The nursery meets the needs of local parents in providing flexible, affordable, high quality daycare that enables them to work or train according to need. The nursery offers young children the chance to learn through play in a stimulating and nurturing environment. It also provides a facility for parents to get to know other people and to drop in for advice and social opportunities. The nursery plans to offer adult learning opportunities for parents and carers via Sure Start and Lone Parents Initiative.
The MP for Barnsley West and Penistone, Michael Clapham and the Mayor of Barnsley, Cllr Jo Hayward will officially open the nursery with Barnsley FC defender, Antony Kay also there to celebrate the opening with the nursery. Face Paints, Cake Stall, Balloon Animals and much more will be available for children to enjoy.

"Pre-school learning is an essential part of early years development, leading to improved life chances for children and families.."
The nursery offers full daycare five days a week. The setting provides a home from home for children between six weeks old and school age and the children have somewhere to play, learn and succeed.
