Neighbourhood Nursery nominated for business awards

Northlands Park Neighbourhood Nursery in Basildon has been nominated as a finalist for a Lifelong Learning Award, sponsored by Thurrock and Basildon College in the Annual Business Awards presented by the Essex Chronicle, Evening Echo and Evening Gazette. The special awards dinner is due to take place on 8th July 2005 at the Towngate Theatre, Basildon.

The 50 place nursery has been running for 6 months and provides full day care for children from 6 weeks to 5 years old. Working in partnership with the Sure Start Children Centre, Northlands Park Nursery has promoted lifelong learning with its staff, parents and students. The nursery supports, encourages and motivates people throughout their training, from childcare qualifications to a basic skills course.

This is a significant achievement for the staff, who have worked hard to ensure that the very best service is provided to families in the Basildon area. Northlands Park is one of 25 Pre-school Learning Alliance Neighbourhood Nurseries open around England.

Alicha Doyle, Nursery Manager said:

"My staff and I are extremely happy with this nomination as it is a recognition of all the hard work and time that we have put in to creating the nursery. We are of course delighted to just be nominated but would love to reach the final as well as win it. If we don't reach the finals, we will be trying harder next year."
