MP and Chief Executive open new nursery in Newstead

Paddy Tipping MP will officially open Newstead Children's Centre, Newstead Village, Nottingham on Friday 4th February at 12.30 pm. Steve Alexander, Chief Executive of the Pre-school Learning Alliance will also be there to celebrate this prestigious event.

Based in the village of Newstead, Nottinghamshire, the centre has been developed by the Pre-school Learning Alliance, Nottinghamshire Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership and Sure Start to meet the needs of local parents and carers. The nursery provides flexible, affordable, high quality daycare, enabling parents and carers to work or train according to need whilst offering young children the chance to learn through play in a stimulating and nurturing environment.

The centre will deliver flexible daycare for 30 children from six weeks to school age, allowing for continuity of care for the children and their families in the Newstead area. The facility will provide a safe, friendly and caring environment in which children can learn in preparation for school.

As well as providing full day care, a range of Sure Start services will be on offer, and include; family health sessions with a midwife or health visitor; training opportunities; stay and play sessions for children aged birth to three. The combined Neighbourhood Nursery and Sure Start is unique, offering a combination of services to give greater flexibility and choice for local parents and carers with an opportunity to get to know other people and drop in for advice, learning and social opportunities . Ann Edwards, Centre Manager at said:
