Pre-school Learning Alliance's Training and Quality Assurance services judged as Outstanding at meeting the vocational needs and interests of learners

The Pre-school Learning Alliance, England’s largest voluntary sector provider of childcare, is delighted that Ofsted has concluded that its training for early years practitioners is outstanding at meeting their needs.

Furthermore, the Alliance was awarded a Good rating in most areas inspected by Ofsted: including: Achievements and Standards; Quality and Provision; Leadership and Management and Guidance and Support.

Key strengths identified by Ofsted were:

Michael Freeston, the Alliance’s Director of Training and Quality Assurance said,

“this is wonderful news. Four years ago the Adult Learning Inspectorate judged the Alliance to be 'one of the best training providers in England’. This new report from Ofsted can only strengthen this position. This is obviously testament to the hard work, professionalism and commitment to excellence of all of those Alliance staff planning and delivering training. Furthermore, it demonstrates the Alliance’s commitment to ensuring that the early years workforce has access to best practice services and highest quality resources and that we are well placed to support them as the next stage of the ten year plan is implemented and settings prepare for the Early Years Foundation Stage.”

The Ofsted inspection was based on the provider’s most recent self-assessment report and development plans and comments from the local Learning and Skills Council (LSC). In addition to reporting on the overall effectiveness of the organisation, the inspection focused on specialist provision in a pre-selected sample of regions.
