Pre-school Learning Alliance’s Laindon nursery in Basildon, Essex shortlisted in Basildon District Business Awards

Staff at Laindon Neighbourhood Nursery, which offers full daycare to 50 children aged from three months to five years in Basildon, are delighted to find that they have been shortlisted for a Basildon District Business Award in the Lifelong learning and Education Category.

Laindon Neighbourhood Nursery is run and managed by Pre-school Learning Alliance, England's largest voluntary sector provider of childcare. The nursery was officially opened in September 2004 and currently supports over 90 families within the local community. As well as full daycare, Laindon also provides wraparound care ensuring that its provision is flexible as well as affordable. No stranger to success, Laindon's most recent Ofsted report graded it ‘Outstanding'. The nursery is also committed to promoting continuous learning for its staff, including external and in house training. Currently nine of the staff are pursuing National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) at various levels.

Linda Keats, Manager of the nursery, said,

"We are truly delighted to reach the final of these prestigious Awards. We are proud of the quality of care we provide which gives children the opportunity to learn through play in a happy and secure environment. Laindon's achievement is testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff and volunteers who have the support of the parents of the children we care for."

As part of the Pre-School Learning Alliance. the nursery aims to provide high quality flexible and affordable childcare, whilst the centre as a whole offers a support network for all the family.

Laindon Nursery will find out if they are the winners when they join the other finalists at the Awards ceremony taking place at Towngate Theatre, Basildon on Friday 11th July 2008. The Basildon District Awards are the longest established Awards scheme in Essex.
