Pre-school Learning Alliance appoints new Chief Executive
The Pre-school Learning Alliance, the largest educational charity representing the early years sector, has announced the appointment of Steve Alexander as its new Chief Executive.
He joins the Alliance from the British Dyslexia Association, where he has been Chief Executive for over three years. He will take up post on 1 September 2004.
:Welcoming him, Judith Thompson, Chair of the Trustees of the Pre-school Learning Alliance said:
"I am delighted that Steve is joining the Alliance as our new Chief Executive. He is the right person with the right blend of skills, experience and, above all, vision to lead the charity".

Steve's track record in the statutory and voluntary sectors and his strategic experience will help to ensure the charity and the sector continues to go from strength to strength".
Commenting on his appointment, Steve Alexander said:

- The Pre-school Learning Alliance has 15,000 member pre-schools who look after 500,000 young children and their families in England every year. Registered as an educational charity, the Alliance is the national dimension of the pre-school movement. Its member pre-schools are based in the community and most are managed and run by parents, alongside trained staff. - Steve Alexander joins the Alliance from the British Dyslexia Association, where he has been Chief Executive since 2001. He was previously Director of Operations at SENSE. He has also worked in National Heath Service and Social Services Management amongst other senior posts managing services for under fives. He has an MBA and is qualified in Social Work. He joins the Alliance on 1 September 2004.
