Publication of new course offers support for parents

The Pre-school Learning Alliance will shortly be releasing a revised publication to provide support for parents and carers in helping them to become more involved in their children's learning and development. The new version of the publication, called Looking at Learning Together, is expected to be published in the autumn.

The Looking at Learning Together Parent Pack was first published some five years ago as a course for parents, offering an opportunity for discussion and to input ideas on helping children with maths, reading and writing and on managing children's behaviour. Embracing the concept of parental involvement, the course has formed the cornerstone of the changing lives, changing life campaign, launched in 2002.

Following the great success of the original course, the revised version of Looking at Learning Together will provide updated information and new ideas for approaching topics from the original version and has taken into account developments in policy, such as the Birth to Three Matters Framework and Early Learning Goals and Curriculum. Offering a CD Rom, worksheets, information sheets, handouts and many other useful tools, Looking at Learning Together will provide course facilitators with the materials needed for a course which will have a positive impact on parents' involvement in their children's learning. The publication of the new course is eagerly awaited.
