What: Neighbourhood Nursery Open/Fun Days

Laindon Neighbourhood Nursery, will be opening its doors to parents, children and prospective staff on 16th, 18th and 20th August between 10am and 2pm. The nursery will be offering children and parents a chance to see for themselves the high quality care and education that will be available to them. Entertainment, games and refreshments will be available for parents and children, with an emphasis on fun.

The nursery is part of a wider Neighbourhood Nursery Initiative, which aims to provide a full compliment of services for families combining affordable, flexible child care facilities, with provision for lifelong learning for adults and a drop-in advice centre The Pre-school Learning Alliance is establishing a network of 30 Neighbourhood Nurseries nationwide, to ensure that children and families have early years provision where it is needed most.

Leianne Bayliss, Centre Manager at Laindon said:

"Laindon Neighbourhood Nursery Fun Days on 16th, 18th and 20th August, are the first opportunity for parents to come and see what we have to offer. We hope that children and parents alike will have fun, relax and enjoy the day."

Jane Youdale, Pre-school Learning Alliance Essex County Manager commented:

"Laindon Nursery will be running from a new, purpose built building in the grounds of James Hornsby High School. It will be linking very much with the local community, as will the other organisations occupying the building, Five Links and Home School Link.

The nursery will be shaped by the needs of local families and will be responsive to their suggestions. The Open Days are marvellous opportunities for parent, carers and children to experience the Laindon Neighbourhood Nursery and to have any questions they might have answered in an informal atmosphere."

The new nursery will be the first Pre-school Learning Alliance Neighbourhood Nursery in Essex and will provide wrap around care and compliment the existing nursery provision in Basildon. The facility is due to open for full day care on Thursday 2nd September 2004. Information about childcare places, job vacancies and volunteering opportunities will be available throughout the day.
