Moorland Neighbourhood Nursery is the first Pre-school Learning Alliance nursery in Lincoln. This brand new nursery meets the needs of local parents in providing flexible, affordable, high quality daycare that enables them to work or train according to need. Positioned next to the local school, the nursery offers young children the chance to learn through play in a stimulating and nurturing environment. It also provides a facility for parents to get to know other people and to drop in for advice and social opportunities.

Gillian Merron MP for Lincoln, said:

"I am delighted to be opening a nursery which will make such a big difference to the lives of children and parents in the Moorland area. The building of the nursery, which been partly funded by Government money through the Neighbourhood Nurseries Initiative, brings a much needed service to this part of Lincoln, giving quality support and the best kind of childcare to local families. This is an exciting development improving local provision in Lincoln."

The nursery offers full daycare five days a week and provides a home from home for children between six weeks old and school age. The new nursery building is a purpose built Lilliput nursery from Portakabin, providing a safe and friendly place for both children and parents.

Rob Hall, Portakabin Business Development Manager for Education, said:

"The Lilliput nursery building is packed with child friendly features, such as child-level sinks and toilets and a wet play area with non-slip flooring. The concept has been designed in conjunction with leading pre-school consultants to provide the perfect environment for children to learn, play and grow."

Nicola Myers, Centre Manager commented:

"We are delighted to open Moorlands Neighbourhood Nursery. We have already received a positive response to the nursery and welcomed many families."

"Children and parents will be entertained on this special day by many activities including, a magician, story sacks and a buffet lunch. Whitepost Farm will be bringing along rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, mice and reptiles. The buffet and all the activities are free of charge."

The Pre-school Learning Alliance is establishing a network of over 30 Neighbourhood Nurseries nationwide. Our involvement in the Neighbourhood Nursery Initiative ensures that children and families have early years provision where it is needed most.

Lynda Sandham, Regional Executive Officer at Eastern Region Pre-school Learning Alliance commented:

"Its great to see Moorland Neighbourhood Nursery completed. So much work has been done, in partnership with the local Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership and Moorland Primary and Infants School and Sure Start to make this facility a reality. Moorland will provide children with a safe and stimulating environment, where parents and carers can be sure that their child will be well looked after and cared for. It will be a real asset for Lincoln's community."
