Investment welcome but "The hard work starts today"

The Pre-school Learning Alliance, the largest voluntary sector provider of pre-school education and childcare in England, today welcomed the publication of the Government's 10 Year Strategy for Childcare. Commenting on the release of the 10 year plan Steve Alexander, Chief Executive of the Pre-school Learning Alliance said:

"The investment is welcome as is a decade of commitment to fund childcare. However, the hard work starts today if we are to meet the ambitious targets for the available money".

"Extending schools to incorporate wrap-around care can provide parents with welcome additional childcare. It is crucial that new facilities build on established services and that schools and local authorities utilise the untapped potential of the voluntary sector as a partner in delivering flexible childcare that gives parents choice".
