Can the Alliance provide advice to group members on a legal matter affecting the setting?
Alliance member groups have access to Lawcall, a 24 hour, confidential legal helpline providing advice on issues concerning the setting such as employment, tax, VAT, leases and premises hire. Contact details for Lawcall are given on your membership card. If you cannot find your card you can contact the Information Service team on 020 7697 2595 or info@pre-school.org.uk with your membership number for Lawcall's details. Please note that it must be the owner or Trustees (Committee Members) of the setting that contacts Lawcall.
Providers that do not have membership with the Pre-school Learning Alliance will have to seek independent legal advice. Business Link can provide contact details for solicitors in your area. You can call 0845 600 9 006 to be transferred to your local Business Link service or search for their details online www.businesslink.gov.uk.
Alternatively the Citizens Advice Bureau can provide legal advice to individuals or members of staff on personal matters. You can search for contact details for your local Citizens Advice Bureau online at http://www.adviceguide.org.uk
If you would like further information on this topic, please contact the Information Service team who will be happy to help.
